Kunde Habba(Festival) or Bedu Habba is an annual festival of tribal people at Kodagu district of Karnataka, India. It is popular for its abuses, dances and fancy dress especially by men.
Legend has it that Lord Ayyappa, god of the tribals had gone hunting with a tribal group. In middle of the forest, he came across goddess Bhagavathi, immediately fell in love and eloped leaving tribals stranded in the middle of the jungle. This sudden betrayal left them in jeopardy and were helpless which made them abuse the god. Henceforth they have reserved the day (4th thursday of May) to vent out their frustrations in the form of abuses to gods for unfulfilled dreams and wishes, to their employers especially plantation owners or anyone who have bothered them. The abuses are in the form of songs and they dance around a tree till the sun sets.
